Happy Birthday to Me!

Today was my day to become yet another year older.. Funny how quickly August 17 seems to come around every year. It is just hard for me to want to add that extra number onto my age each year.. I don't feel any older so why do I have to count it?? I do feel like I have gained wisdom, patience, tolerance through these years so I guess it is worth the price to pay in numbers..
So today was a good day. The girls at worked made me delicious shrimp , crab and corn bisque and a killer chocolate cake. When I got home my girls and dad had cards and gifts and a yummy DQ ice cream turtle cake. No counting calories today...only all my wonderful blessings!

Another school year begins..

I can't believe school started already August 5th...in 100degree temperatures. What happened to the good ole days of starting after Labor Day and having a full 3 months off for summer vacation?
Oh well-I just hope this will be a great year for the girls as Ave Kate enters 1st grade and Olivia starts 2cd. They were up early and ready to go. Lets hope that morning pace continues in days to come. I remember how exciting those first days of school were. I get a little nervous for them just thinking about it. Funny how those memories can still cause that butterfly feeling in my stomach...
We brought all of the school supplies to their classrooms yesterday and they met their new teachers. They both have great teachers so I am thankful for that. I can't wait for this afternoon to hear what they have to say about the first day. Fingers crossed...

Happy Gotcha Day Lily!

Lily now and then..She has come SO far since that first day we saw her getting out of that van. She was so little and so pale and thin and so scared..
What a difference a year made.. being in a family and surrounded in love. She is a little firecracker. She is still little but she is loud. She is a happy. loving little sweetheart and we are so thankful that she walked into our world a year ago and we thank God for her.
